
Edward R. Avery Edward R. Avery died on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Saint Mary Medical Center, Langhorne. He was 84. He was an original Levittown homeowner and a member of Immaculate Conception BVM Parish, Levittown. Mr. Avery was active in his parish and was a member of the Holy Name Society. Until his retirement, he was a Claims Representative for 39 years with the Social Security Administration. Mr. Avery was a former manager and umpire for Levittown International Little League. A US Navy veteran, he served during the Korean War. His hobbies included golf, bowling, crossword puzzles, watching Philadelphia sports teams and trips to Atlantic City. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Beloved husband of the late Mary A. (Golden), Mr. Avery is the loving father of Mary Ann MacPhee (Don) of Holland, Denise Techtmann (Jack) of Levittown, Patty Griffiths (Al) of Levittown and Eileen Avery of Bristol; the devoted grandfather of Nicole Bond (Dave), Colleen, Allison Degnan (Andrew), Lauren, Leslie, Samantha (Pat Walsh), Emily, Andrea, A.J., Kyle and Rachel; and the proud great grandfather of Braydon, Liam and Shane. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph and sisters, Frances, Joan, Jean and Sr. Frances William, G.N.S.H and sister-in-law, Sally Bispels. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, 7:00 until 9:00 pm and on Thursday, 8:15 until 9:15 am James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, Levittown. Rite of Committal will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
