

Edward I. RyanEdward I. "Ted" Ryan died surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Chandler Hall in Newtown. He was 91.Born and raised in Minersville, PA, Ted moved to Levittown in 1953, settling in Bristol Township. He was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Parish. Ted spent most of his working career in the engineering and printing industries. He then later worked at ETS in Princeton for 26 years until his retirement. Ted was a US Army World War II veteran serving in the South Pacific and the occupation of Japan. He was a dedicated and lifetime member of the American Legion Memorial Post 960 serving as Chaplain for 50 years and was also a member of the VFW John Billington Post 6495.He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division I, Bristol, and also a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Saint Joseph the Worker Council 4215 and the Saint John Neumann Assembly.Ted was a former "Man of the Year" for the Bucks County Irish Historical Society and was Past President of the Irish-American Cultural Society of Bucks County. He was a past Grand Marshall of the the Saint Patrick's Day Parade in 2008.Ted was predeceased by his first wife, Elizabeth; a daughter, Erin Springman; 4 brothers; and a sister.He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Mary Griffin Ryan; his children, Cookie Fennessy, Betty Lou Crocker (John), Eileen Zettick (Joseph) and Edwardine "Tedi" Adams (Neil); 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and a great great grandson.Ted will also be sadly missed by his brother, Carter Ryan; stepchildren, Robert Griffin (Robbin), Sheila Umek (Bill), Jennifer Umek (Bob), Matthew Griffin (Gretchen) and Jessica Griffin (Jim Bray); 13 step grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family.Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, from 3:00 until 6:00 pm and on Monday, from 8:00 until 9:15 am at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, 10:00 am, at Saint Michael the Archangel Church, Levittown, followed by the Rite of Committal in Resurrection Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ted's name may be made to Chandler Hall Health Services, 99 Barclay Street, Newtown, PA 18940.
