He was the loving husband of Ann Marie (deceased), father of daughter Angelina and son Francis J. Sciolla, III, and grandfather of Ava and Dante Sciolla.
Frank grew up in Elkins Park, PA the oldest in a big family that included five younger brothers and a sister. His family owned Sciolla’s Supper Club, a well-known dining and entertainment venue in Philadelphia that featured some of the biggest acts from the 1940s to the 1970s. Starting at age 10, Frank worked alongside his siblings at the club while the likes of Tony Bennett, Fats Domino, and Bobby Darin graced the stage, and honed his notorious skill for telling jokes watching Joey Bishop and Buddy Hackett as he bussed tables.
Frank graduated from LaSalle High School in 1963 and later began a career that led him to key sales and marketing roles with Maybelline, Schick, and Burgoyne Greeting Cards. In the late 1980s, Frank started FOS, a specialty foods company that marketed gourmet products from around the world. He became a leading voice in the industry, helping countless companies establish their presence and define their brands for a broad audience. With his knowledge, discerning taste for what was innovative and in-demand, and his ability to position products for success, Frank was a staple at all the major trade shows, and his leadership, sense of humor and generosity to both customers and clients made him a memorable and invaluable presence in the industry.
Frank’s larger than life personality made him the life of the party with his penchant for jokes, one liners and the more than occasional prank. As much as he entertained, the sound of his bellowing laugh was both delightful and disarming.
In 2015 Frank was diagnosed with stage II prostate cancer. He was successfully treated at the University of Pennsylvania and remained cancer free until his death. When wife Ann was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia in 2018, Frank returned to UPenn to support his wife through treatment and remission.
Outside of running his business, Frank enjoyed reading about Civil War and World War II history, building model airplanes, and shotgun shooting at ranges in Bucks and Lehigh County. He and his wife Ann enjoyed exploring the history and beauty of Pennsylvania, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren, proudly making his presence known at their sporting events and musical performances. His grandchildren made an indelible impact on his outlook on life, and he constructed his life around the opportunity to spend time with them.
Frank is survived by his son and daughter, his grandchildren and his brothers Guy (Annie), Gregory (Carol), Gabe, Joe (Joanne), Michael (Donna) sister Anne (Rick) as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Gathering for family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 10:00 am until 12 noon, followed by a funeral service, at the James J Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank’s memory to Philadelphia Chapter of Coaches vs Cancer and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
