Frank served with honor in the United States Navy, a testament to his love for his country and dedication to duty. He was a skilled roofer, a which exemplified his tireless work ethic.
The rock of reliability to his family and friends, his presence was a source of strength and comfort, often accompanied by a warmth that belied his playful complaint of always feeling cold. He was a man of simple pleasures, finding joy in the tranquility of fishing, the beauty of beaches, and the intense energy that comes with being a Philadelphia sports teams fan, including the Phillies, Eagles, and Flyers. His sense of humor and commitment to family traditions, such as family gatherings on the holidays with the grandkids, fireworks down Penns landing, and trips to the Mummers parades , were the cornerstones of his character.
Francesco is survived by his adoring children, Michele (Michael) Plitt, Tabatha Checchia, Frank Checchia, and Dominic Checchia, their mother and Frank's partner of 50 years, Karen Mundy; his cherished siblings, Maria Barbieri, Leonard Checchia, and Bernadette Checchia (Ron Salkin); and his treasured ten grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy.
