

Born in Millville, NJ to the late Robert and Alcina (Zimmerman) Riley, she was a Levittown resident for over 40 years. She graduated from Millville Sr. High School in 1977, and graduated from West Chester University in 1981. While there, she met her husband Joseph, and they married in August 1982. She taught at several schools while obtaining her Master's Degree from Trenton State College in 1986. In 1988, she served the Princeton High School community as an educator and substance abuse counselor until her retirement in 2018.
Gwen was a devoted wife and mother. She spent countless hours in the bleachers at sporting events, cheerleading competitions, and driving her children to practices and games. She took great pride in hosting friends of her children morning, noon, and night.
She found joy in preparing feasts and hosting her family during the holidays. In her limited free time, she was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. She loved playing card games, and spending time with her family in Ocean City, NJ. She had a strong appreciation for classic movies and musicals.
Predeceased by her parents, and close family member Maureen Callahan; Gwen is survived by her loving husband, Joe; her children Rebecca Poemer (Bob), and Andy; her two grandsons; her sisters, Jennifer Tyau (Keith), and JoAnne Patterson (Phil), and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life for Gwen's family and friends will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM, with Words of Remembrance starting at 6:00 PM.
