Born in Waterford, Ohio to William and Marcella (Rauch) Heiss, she was one of nine siblings (William, Reta, Edith, Kenneth, Robert, Jack, Ronnie)- (predeceased), and sister Mary Campbell (surviving) of Waterford, Ohio.
She is survived by her husband (John W. Hickman), children (and their spouses) (Rose Marie, John Randall (Evi), Timothy Russell (Patty), and Rhonda Lee (David)), 10 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.
She worked as a waitress, hostess, and caterer for most of her career. Lovingly referred to as Grandma Jo to her grandchildren, she was an amazing chef with the biggest heart and everyone loved her pies and canned pickles and peaches.
Services for Joan will be private.
