John was born in Wilkes Barre, son of the late Anna (Hoffman) and John L. Collins Sr., and graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School in 1965. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War.
John was a long time employee of the former Spiegel where he worked in the collections department.
He was a passionate Philadelphia Eagles fan and dog lover.
Beloved husband of the late April C. (Verillo), John was the loving brother of Ann Keefe (late Kenny) and uncle of Richard Keefe (Karen) and Shawn Keefe (Mindy).
He will also be missed by his mother-in-law, Joyce Verillo; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth McAdams and Jenny Thornton (Dave); brothers-in-law, John Verillo and Gregory Verillo (Cheryl) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call from 1 until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14th, at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown where his memorial service will be held at 2 p.m.
