

John K. Fissinger of Levittown died on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Arden Courts in Yardley. He was 90. Born in Chicago, Mr. Fissinger moved to Levittown from Elizabeth, PA in 1951. He was employed with U.S. Steel as General Supervisor of Labor Relations for 34 years until his retirement in 1983. He will be remembered for his singing voice and as the co-founder of the Men of Harmony Group at USX. Mr. Fissinger attended the ground breaking for the power house at USX in the early 1950's. Mr. Fissinger was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Queen of the Universe Parish and the Falls Township and Middletown Senior Citizens. Mr. Fissinger is the beloved husband of the late Margaret A. (Moore) Fissinger. He is the loving father of Margaret Young (Jerry) of Gasquet, CA; Catherine Davenport (Tom) of Redwood Valley, CA; Lisabeth Aubrey of Palos Verdes, CA; John Fissinger, Jr. (Susan) of Limerick, PA; Mary Helfrich (John) of Uxbridge, MA; James Fissinger of Penndel; Robert Fissinger of Pineville, PA; Jean Fissinger of Levittown; Richard Fissinger (Christine) of Levittown and Edward Fissinger (Cheryl) of Virginia Beach, VA. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren his sister, Ella Shepherd of Hobart, IN; brother, William Fissinger of Cleveland, OH; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, from 2:00 until 6:00 pm and on Monday from 8:30 until 9:30 am at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 am at Queen of the Universe Church, Levittown. Rite of Committal will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Falls Township Senior Center, 282 Trenton Road, Fairless Hills, PA 19030.
