

John Edward Rocque, known to his friends and family as Jack, aged 77, passed away Friday, August 9, 2013. Born August 8,1936 in Whitehall, New York, Jack graduated from Whitehall High School as President of the Class of 1953. In 1957 he married Marie Ellen Barber. Together they moved to Levittown, Pennsylvania and raised 4 children, Renee, Jeff, Marc and Jon. Jack worked for General Electric for 30 years until his retirement in 1992. He was a draftsman and team manager on various aerospace and defense systems. Most notably he worked with teams on components for Skylab and Voyager spacecraft. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Jack loved to sing and for 10 years was vocalist and frontman for the Melody Makers where they performed at weddings and parties from 1965 until 1975. Jack also loved a good party. He and Marie hosted a Christmas Eve party every year beginning in 1965, it was a legendary good time. Jack is predeceased by his father Joseph Tracy Rocque and mother Gladys Bartholomew Rocque, his younger brother Richard Rocque and his grandson Nathaniel Maurice Rocque. He is survived by his wife Marie, daughter Renee and her husband Stephen Nepa, son Jeff and his wife JoAnn and grandchildren Alex and Stacey, son Marc and his wife Rose and granddaughter Felicia, and son Jon and his wife Maria and grandsons Denny and Tony. He is also survived by his older brother Joseph Rocque as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation and viewing on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown. Friends may also call on Wednesday from 9 until 10 a.m. at Queen of the Universe Church, 2443 Trenton Rd., Levittown where his funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be made directly to Queen of the Universe Church in Jack's name.
