Michael F. Birtel Michael F. Birtel died suddenly on Monday, October 17, 2011 at his home. He was 67. Born in Newark, NJ, the son of the late Darius and Dorothy (Heil) Birtel, he was resident of Falls Township since 1976 and was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Parish. Mr. Birtel was employed with IRS on Roosevelt Boulevard for seven years prior to his retirement in 2011. He received his associates degree from Rutgers University. Mr. Birtel was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He enjoyed donating to many charitable organizations. Beloved husband of 44 years to Karen L. (Kayser), he was the devoted father of Mark (Terri) of Vero Beach, FL, Matthew of Fox Chase and Erin Weston, D.O. (Jamie) of Deerfield Beach, FL and the proud grandfather of Haylee Catherine Birtel. He was the loving brother of Joseph Birtel and Patricia Lattuca both of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Dirsa and his brother, Robert Birtel. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, from 12:30 until 1:30 pm at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, where his Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 pm. Interment will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 555 North Lane, Suite 5010, Conshohocken, PA 19428 would be appreciated by the family.
