

Michael Markovchik, Jr. Michael Markovchik, Jr. died on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Saint Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, with his family by his side. He was 89. Born and raised in Hazleton and a 1941 graduate of Hazleton High School, he moved to Levittown in 1953 where he was a founding and active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Mr. Markovchik was employed as a bookkeeper in the Blast Furance Accounting Department at US Steel for 30 years until retiring in 1983. He was a US Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Markovchik was an avid bowler and enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He was the beloved husband of 48 years to the late Catherine (Bilock); father of the late Marita Stango and brother of the late Anna Sterechock. Mr. Markovchik is survived by his son, Michael J.; son-in-law, Anthony N. Stango; and his grandchildren, Ashely Nicole and Michael Joseph Markovchik and Anthony, Christie and Noelle Stango. He will also be sadly missed by his sisters, Mary Horner of St. Petersburg, FL; Caroline Clark of Cumberland, MD and Gloria Cohn of Allentown; brother, Carl of Newark, DE; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, from 9:30 until 10:30 am at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown where a Panachida Service will be held at 10:30 am. His Requiem Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Levittown followed by interment in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 1773 Woodbourne Road, Levittown, PA 19057.
