
Robert J. Brecker, 71, of Langhorne, PA and St. Petersburg, FL passed away suddenly of an apparent heart attack on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. Born in Philadelphia and raised in Levittown, PA, he graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1973 with a degree in Criminology. He also graduated from Tampa College in 1983 with a degree in Information Technology. Rob was a proud member of The Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity for over 50 years.
He was retired from Verizon, after a 30-year career as a software engineer, where he received numerous awards for excellence in his job performance.
Robert was a true Renaissance Man with many interests. He was a gourmet cook, self-taught guitarist since the age of 12, accomplished didgeridoo and harmonica player, astrophotographer, philosopher, seeker of knowledge and truth and a lover of nature and animals. Robert’s favorite pastimes were fishing, wild mushroom hunting and playing his guitars.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Gertrude Brecker, his brother, William Brecker and his sister, Mary Butkovich. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandy, his sister, Dr. Barbara Brecker, several nieces and nephews and his beloved friend since childhood, Joseph Shields and his wife, Kathy.
Robert’s family will receive relatives and friends from 11:30 to 12:30 on October 15, 2022 at the James Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA where a celebration of his life will be held at 12:30 pm.
