Ruth Marie HowellRuth Marie (Bachofer) Howell, age 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 2, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theron, her daughters, Deborah and Rebecca, and 7 siblings: Grace, Bud, Jesse (Pinky), Ginny, Bettie, Laura and Louise.Daughter of the late Ferdinand and Ida (Soby) Bachofer, she was born in Bristol, PA on December 11, 1923. She was raised in Tullytown and graduated from Bristol High School in 1941. After marrying Theron Howell, they settled in Bristol and later moved to Langhorne.She was a loving mother to Deborah Louise, Rebecca Maureen Evans (Ed), and Candace Beth Dunn (James). She was a devoted grandmother to Brian, Laura, Mark, Shaun and Joshua and proud great grandmother of 20. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.Her brother, Pinky, was killed in action in Germany during World War II. She was the niece of Jesse W. Soby, for whom the American Legion Post in Langhorne is named and who lost his life in WWI.Ruth was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Hulmeville for many years. Her love of music was satisfied by singing in the church's choir, as well as participating in the Delaware Valley Choral Society under the direction of Milsom Hughes for 55 years.She had outstanding secretarial skills which she put to use at Rohm and Haas in Bristol for years and then for several more serving various principals at the school she came to love...Neshaminy High School.Ruth will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.Relatives and friends may call on Monday, September 10, 2018, from 10:00 until 11:00 am at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, where her funeral service will begin 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Beechwood Cemetery, Bensalem.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Grace Episcopal Church, 313 Main Street, Hulmeville, PA 19047 or to the charity of donor's choice.
