Born in New York City, to the late Margaret and Henry Hein, he grew up in Flushing, Queens, New York. Bill felt the call to serve his country, and he enlisted in The US Navy, where he served proudly aboard the Destroyer Escort USS Guinard. Bill also served for 39 years as an employee of Middletown Township, PA until his retirement.
Bill met the love of his life, Maria, at a sodality meeting at Saint Ann’s in Flushing. After his service in The Navy, Bill and Maria united in marriage on August 22, 1964, at Queen of the Universe Church in Levittown, PA, and the couple settled in Middletown where they raised their family.
Bill’s biggest love was spending time with his family. His wife, children and grandchildren were his life. He also had a passion for woodworking, building many things such as clocks, chairs, and other furniture. Some of which adorn the houses of his family. He enjoyed creating things from wood to then share with others. He also shared something very dear to him, his love for St. Katharine Drexel. He would always spread that love of his beloved St. Katharine to all he met. He will always be remembered for his infectious smile and kind heart.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Maria (nee Liberti) who he referred to endearingly as his angel, his son, William Hein and his wife Joy, and his daughter, Kathleen Hitchen. His treasured grandchildren, Victoria Hein-Spaulding and her Husband Travis, Christina Hein and her fiancé Sean, Grace Hitchen, Luke Hitchen, Sophia Hein, and Steven Hitchen. Bill was preceded in death by his sister, the late Margie Lobmeyer.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 9:30 AM until 10:15 AM at Queen of the Universe Church, 2443 Trenton Road, Levittown PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Burial with military honors will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem, PA.
