

William D. Pfender, age 95, of Philadelphia died peacefully, surrounded by family at Jefferson Hospital on January 27, 2026. Born June 30, 1930, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the only child of the late Mary (O’Connor) Pfender. He attended St. Anne’s Catholic Elementary school and North Catholic High School. Beloved husband of the late Maureen (O’Donnell) Pfender and is survived by his children William Jr., James, Robert, Joseph, Thomas and Maureen. He also leaves behind seventeen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
William proudly joined the Marines at age seventeen to serve his country. Upon discharge from the Marine Corps, he took a job at Philco Ford where he met the love of his life, Maureen O’Donnell. They married in 1954 after which William joined the Philadelphia Police Department, serving the twenty-sixth district for six years. He then switched to the trucking industry as a salesman, a career that lasted nearly forty years.
William was a talented salesman known for his charisma, quick wit, and ability to connect with people. One of his greatest joys was a family & friends gathering around the kitchen table. He always knew how to have a good time. His laughter, stories and larger-than-life presence made every room brighter. He rolled with the punches better than most, which perhaps explained his love for boxing, the only sport he’d ever watch.
William loved his children and grandchildren and will be deeply missed by family and friends.
A visitation for Bill will take place on February 3, 2026, starting at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 225 Bellevue Ave, Penndel, Pennsylvania, 19047. The family eulogy will follow at 10:50am. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00am.The burial with full military honors will commence after mass at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, 1215 Super Highway, Langhorne, Pennsylvania, 19047.
