Alexandra Gordon Rankin

She passed away at her Greene Maine home in the early morning hours of March 18, 2026, with daughters Dorilynn, Tricia beside her and her loyal dog Maisie at her feet. She was a graduate of Westerly High School. Sandy married her high school sweetheart Richard G Rankin in 1958 and they raised 5 daughters.

After many years in the banking world, Sandy expanded her horizons attending college where she excelled academically and received her associate’s degree as a member of the National Honor Society, which she was extremely proud of. Sandy retired from Sullivan County Health Care Facility in Claremont NH where she was the Director of Activities, she was also an accomplished seamstress, she made many clothes for her girls over their childhood years. She was a talented quilter and shared her creations with her children from bed quilts to handbags.

Sandy loved gardening and perennial flowers, she had beautiful yards with flowers for every season. Sandy loved her daughters unconditionally. She would say " you are what you think “, always offering positive words of encouragement.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Joan Ferguson Stroud and former husband Richard G Rankin.

She is survived by her daughters Debra A Marr (Ron), Alexandra D Bozogan (Alan), Dorilynn Ruman (Steve), Tricia C Spaziani (Gene) and Charlotte A Rankin, her brother William B Ferguson and sister- in- law Sharron survive her as well as many grandchildren, great grandson, nieces and nephews.

Sandy was undoubtedly " the Queen Mother" of the family. She will be sadly missed, and her absence will leave an unimaginable void, but the memories will last a lifetime for all of us. Her wish for her children was to find happiness and joy in their lives, and they intend to honor that.

Interment will be held at Riverbend Cemetery in Westerly RI on May 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM.
