

AUBURN- Amos Arnold Campbell, 82, a previous resident of Andover, Maine and for the last two and half years, a resident of Clover Manor in Auburn died peacefully Tuesday evening September 29, 2009 at the Hospice House in Auburn following a short illness. He was born on April 11, 1927 in Andover, Maine the son of Daniel and Anne Dubois (Woods) Campbell. He lived in Andover for 42 years. He worked for Raymond Akers hauling logs to wood mills in Maine and New Hampshire. In 1967, he moved his family to Auburn and worked at Pioneer Plastics until his retirement in 1989. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be remembered by his family, friends and co-workers as someone who loved to tease; who enjoyed life and who lived his life in service to others. He was a gentle man with a kind soul, a man of strong values and who delighted in family traditions. On October 29, 1949 he married Leah Mae Stearns. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage. Leah died on November 24, 1999. He served on active duty in the U.S. Navy from April, 1945 until July, 1946. He left the service to return home to care for his mother who had a terminal illness. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion. Amos leaves behind his son, Larry Campbell of Bear Pond; his daughter Crystal Guerrette and James Thibodeau of Wales; three grandchildren, Sara Caron and her husband Craig, Erin Descoteaux and her husband Robert and Derek Campbell; as well as three great grandchildren, Olivia and Sophie Caron and Aden Campbell; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and four siblings Francis Campbell, Marguerite Emerson, Marjorie Jodrey and Ceceila Remington. NOTICE Campbell- Died in Auburn Tuesday September 29, 2009. A service of remembrance with military honors will be held on Friday October 2, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Civic Center Drive in Augusta. In lieu of flowers, donations by those who desire may be made in Amos' memory to the Hospice House of Androscoggin 236 Stetson Road Auburn, Maine 04210.
