

Beatrice Evelyn (Marston) Phillips, of Auburn, passed away June 11, 2007, after a short stay at Central Maine Medical Center.Beatrice (Bea) was born April 28, 1924 to Charles and Alice Marston in Rockport, Me. �She grew up the middle child of five and graduated from Rockport High School in 1942 where she was a member of the basketball team. �She then moved to Whitinsville, MA, where she worked in the machine shop making munitions for the war effort.She moved back to Rockport in 1945 and married Malcolm (Mac) H. Phillips on December 1, 1945. �Together they built a home and a family, raising a daughter and a son in Rockport. �She and her family moved to Auburn in 1959 and then to New Gloucester in 1971, where she lived until December 2006. �In December, she moved to the Great Falls Esplanade in Auburn.She worked for a number of years at Carville?s Confectioners, where she bagged bulk candy into retail-sized bags for distribution. �She then worked at Health-Tex in Portland before going to work at Paragon Glass in Lewiston, from which she retired eleven years ago at the age of 72. �Since then, she has always been on the go and ready to go anywhere.Bea was predeceased by her husband who died in 1982 and is survived by her daughter Mrs. Katherine Troutt, and her husband Joseph, of Knoxville, TN; her son David Phillips, and his wife Carole, of Union, ME; three brothers and a sister, Ralph Marston of Camden, ME, Maurice Marston of Dover, DE, Helen Chater of Camden, ME, and Kenneth Marston of Union, ME. �Bea also has three granddaughters, Dana Lynn Kearns of St. Louis, MO, Dianne Heil of Kansas City, MO, and Jennie Phillips of Gardiner, ME, as well as six great-grandchildren.Bea had several enjoyments in life. �One was knitting numerous sweaters for her children and grandchildren. �Another was making peanut butter fudge for all the family gatherings and sending some off to her granddaughter in college. �Her third enjoyment was raising flowers in her flower gardens.Bea has been a member of Court Street Baptist Church for almost forty years. �She was involved in the Clothes Closet, Chimes Choir and craft group at church, as well as serving at numerous special functions. �She will be remembered fondly and missed by all. PHILLIPS died in Lewiston, June 11, 2007, Mrs. Beatrice E. Phillips age 83 years a resident of 20 Great Falls Plaza, Auburn. Funeral services honoring Beatrice's life will be held FRIDAY 2:00PM at Court Street Baptist Church with Pastor David Clark officiating.
