

AUBURN - Bernice A. Martin, 89, a formerly of 2626 Hotel Rd., Auburn died Monday afternoon at the Hospice House following a long illness. She was born in Auburn January 18, 1920, the daughter of Alphonse and Anna (Fournier) Montminy. While living in Auburn, she attended Sacred Heart Church, and was a member of the Basilica Sts. Peter and Paul in Lewiston. In her younger days, Bernice loved dancing and was employed many years as a hand stitcher in the local shoe industry until her retirement. During retirement, she loved to winter and Florida, and was very proud of her grandchildren. Survivors include three sons, Richard L. Martin and his wife, Joline of Minot, Michael A. Martin of Augusta, and Gerard Montminy of Lewiston; two brothers, Roger Montminy of Lewiston and Edgar Montminy and his wife, Faye of Belfast; one sister, Irene Tremblay of Lewiston, and also surviving are several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Marie Cote and Jane Treadwell, and two brothers, Leo and Armand Montminy. MARTIN died in Auburn, December 28, 2009, Mrs. Bernice A. Martin age 89 years formerly of 2626 Hotel Rd., Auburn. A Mass of Christian Burial honoring Bernice's life will be celebrated MONDAY January 4th 11:00AM in the lower chapel of the Basilica of Sts. Peter & Paul's Church of the Prince of Peace Parish. Interment St. Peter's Cemetery.
