She was born July 29, 1946 in Lewiston the daughter of Joseph and Laureanne (Fournier) Paquette.
A graduate of Edward Little High School in the class of 1965, Claire then attended Mr. Bernard's School of Hair Fashion receiving her license as a hairdresser in the State of Maine. After some 14 years as a hairstylist working primarily at Poulin's Beauty Salon in Lewiston, Claire left her profession for health reasons. She then took a secretarial position at the Edward Little High School where she worked for 3 ½ years. In March of 1984 Claire accepted an offer to work at the State Capital in Augusta as Assistant to Donat Boisvert, then director of the Maine Canadian Legislative Advisory. Claire continued to pursue improving her career with the State and after some 4 ½ years transferred to a position in Portland with the Dept. Of Environmental Protection. She remained at that location eventually managing the Portland office until her retirement in May 2007 after some 23 years of service.
In her retirement as well as during her working life, Claire traveled extensively in the US, Canada, and Western Europe. She pursued the genealogical study of her ancestry dating back to the family roots in Canada and in France. Claire's residence in Lisbon for some 30 years is testament to her love of the Lisbon-Lisbon Falls Community. She served on the Library Board of Directors enjoying participating in the various initiatives sponsored by the Library for the community at large.
