1944 - 2021
Lewiston- Daniel A. D'Auteuil Sr., age 76, of Lisbon and formerly of Lewiston, passed away Thursday evening July 1st at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center with his family at his side. He was born in Lewiston August 1, 1944, one of three children born to Fernand andJulie Anna (St. Georges) D'Auteuil. Dan was educated in Lisbon schools and graduated from St. Dominic Regional High School in 1962.
On July 27, 1963, he married the former Rachel Couture at Ss. Peter and Paul's Church and together they settled in Lewiston to start their family. Dan was active in the community, served seven years in the U.S. Army Reserves, was a member of the American Legion, Holy Cross Church and Ss. Peter & Paul Parish Council for several years. In his early years, he worked as a self-employedcarpenter and builder and in later years worked in Real Estate and then he worked several years at CMMC in Patient Services until his retirement. Dan was an avid sports fan of all the major Boston teams but he especially enjoyed hockey and the Bruins, andwas very much a die-hard fan of the Lewiston Maineiacs. He was well-known in the local youth hockey community and for many years he owned and operated The Pro Shop at the Central Maine Youth Center and TheFour-Season Sport Factory Outlet on both lower and upper Lisbon St. Dan was knownfor his knowledge and skill in proper skate sharpening. He was active in youth sports, coached youth hockey and baseball he coached and followed his children's sports teams and activities for over 20 years as they were growing up he then continued on to behis grandchildren's biggest supporter at all of their events right up to his final days. For many years he was also known for his Christmas lightdisplay at the family home in Greene.
Dan leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Rachel D'Auteuil of Lisbon; two daughters Kaileigh Tara of Lewiston and Jacqueline Franks and husband Elton of Wilmington, NC; four sons Daniel A. D'Auteuil Jr. and wife Laura of Lewiston, David D'Auteuil and wife Catherine of Kittery, Donald D'Auteuil and wife Shannon of Lewiston and Denis D'Auteuil and wife Michele of Lewiston; twelve grandchildren Aimee Labbe and husband Chris, Brendan McGinley, Alex Franks, Devon D'Auteuil, Joshua D'Auteuil, Elyse D'Auteuil, Dylan D'Auteuil, Marciano Webster, Jaden Webster, Isabella Webster, Avianna D'Auteuil and Madeleine D'Auteuil; two great-grandchildren Henry and Theodore Labbe; his brother Jean-Paul D'Auteuil and wife Terry of New Gloucester and manynieces and nephews.
Dan was predeceased by his parents, a sister Lillian Doty and an infant sister Louise.
