

Lewiston-Edith (Edie) Cox, 94, passed away on January 13, 2024 at Marshwood Nursing Center with her loving family by her side. The Lord has called her home to be reunited with her beloved Husband, William (Bill) Cox, and her blessed daughter Wanda (Cox) Bechard, her only child. She was born in Boston, MA on October 4, 1929, the daughter of Harold and Dorothy (Rollins) Keene. On April 8, 1950, she married the love of her life William Cox.
She was a life-long resident of Lewiston, Maine and a member of the Prince of Peace Parish. She was a proud member of the Kora Widow’s Club and always looked forward to her luncheons with the ladies. She spent many of her years as a Custodian at Edward Little High School in Auburn, ME. She was loved by so many students and staff and the love was mutual. She was an avid candlepin bowler and Boston Red Sox fan. She loved her trips to Disney World and Florida with her family. Her favorite place to visit was Bar Harbor, Maine it held a very special place in her heart.
Her time best spent was with her two grandchildren, Wendy (Bechard) and William (Cox) Bechard who she has watched over since the passing of their mother Wanda. In her later years, she truly loved and adored her five great-grandchildren, Carter, Coleman, Ella, Benjamin, and Charlotte (Char-Char) and her step granddaughter Kaitlyn. Nothing brightened her day more than spending time with them.
She is survived by her two grandchildren Wendy (James) Mercier, William (Katie) Bechard, her six great-grandchildren, and Son-in-Law Robert (Joline) Bechard. In addition, she is survived by her seven brothers, Lawrence, Randall, James, Ronald, Danny, Dennis, and Donald: her 11 sisters, Margaret, Eleanor, Patricia, Eugenia, Carol, Brenda, Karen, Linda, Susan, Mary, Theresa, and her sister in law Patricia (Cox) Poulin.
Edith was predeceased by her husband William Cox (1987) and her daughter Wanda Cox Bechard (1995); three sisters Dorothy, Phyliss, and Florence and two brothers, Harold Jr., and Clyde. The family would like to send out a special thank you to the staff (Eliot Wing) at Marshwood that provided Edith with kindness and wonderful care during her final days.

Funeral services celebrating Edith’s life will be held on Wednesday Jan. 17th at 10:00AM at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery in the spring. Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday Jan. 16th from 4-7PM in the funeral home.
