John Manuel Conde

He was born in Sobrol da Lagoa, Portugal on March 27, 1952 a son of the late Joaquim Conde & Maria de Nazare Conde. John immigrated to Indian Orchard, Massachusetts at the age of sixteen. He learned a variety of trades. John built homes in the Western Mass Pioneer Valley, he was a Police Officer with the Chicopee P.D. in Massachusetts, then went on to become a manager for Madra Forge. He then became a manager for Easco Hand Tools where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Western New England College in Springfield, Mass. John then went on to become an HR Manager for Proctor & Gamble’s, Tambrands Division in Auburn, Maine for seventeen years where he traveled globally for Tambrands to implement policy and procedures to assist in shaping the company’s future vision.

John was a member of the Elks Lodge # 896 in Lewiston. He loved his German Shepherd Saloio and enjoyed Cruisin’ on his Harley, Trap Shooting, Sport Shooting, Golfing, Boating, and Glamping (Glamour camping).

He is survived by three children João M. de Nazare Conde II of Lewiston, Jennifer Gorski of Southwick, MA and Matthew Conde of Brunswick, ME, his devoted and loving partner Roseann Knightly of Lewiston, his five grandchildren Emma-Sue Conde, Caitlyn Tierney, Nina Tierney, Alycia Tierney and Cole Gorski. He also leaves behind a sister Lucillia Santos of Portugal and several nieces and nephews all over the world.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, December 6, 2024 from 3 - 7 PM at The Fortin & Pinette Funeral Home, 305 Alfred Plourde Parkway, Lewiston, ME. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 11 AM at Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, 122 Ash St, Lewiston, followed by committal prayers St. Peter Cemetery, Lewiston.
