Born on November 7, 1947, Ken was the son of Alfred J. Clifford and Louise Haynes Clifford. He spent his childhood in Sabattus alongside his two brothers, Richard and Leland, forming bonds that lasted a lifetime.
Ken had a steadfast respect for freedom and carried out his duty with quiet strength and resilience when he served in Vietnam. His time in the Army shaped his deep appreciation for home, family, and the simple joys of life.
Ken married Virginia Ouellette on July 10,1971. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter and devotion. Their two sons, Luke and Dean Clifford, were his pride and joy. Ken taught them not only how to fix anything—from bikes to trucks to small engines—but also how to live with integrity and heart.
He became a talented blacksmith, using a forge to produce the finest quality shoe dies for the industry. He retired from Strainrite Industries in Auburn in 2010, where he was known for his hard work and craftsmanship. He was known by the CB radio community as “the Blacksmith”. He found joy in gardening, constructing greenhouses, fishing, and sharing a cold beer with friends and family.
Ken is survived by his beloved wife Virginia; sons Luke and Dean & daughter-in-law Laura; grandchildren Aiden, Natalie, Alexander, Blake, and Brooke; brothers Richard (Helena) and Leland (Sheila); a niece (Theresa) and nephews (Dan & Wayne). He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Louise Clifford and nephew Brian.
A private graveside service will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery to honor Ken’s life and legacy with his close family.
