Born in Canada Jan. 19, 1929, to Rose and Paul Ouellette, she had five sisters; Gertrude, Germaine, Dorina, Bernadette and Jeanine who sadly have all passed away.
Lillian attended St. Peter’s School and later completed her education at Bliss College.
On July 5, 1947, at the tender age of 18, Lillian married the love of her life, Irenee Vachon, at Saints Peter and Paul Church in Lewiston, Maine. They shared 35 years of marriage and raised four children — Diane Meyer, Claire Bergeron, Ron Vachon and Dot Letourneau. After his passing on Sept. 15, 1981, she later married Roger Benoit.
Lillian worked in the shoe industry, always managing to take summers off to be with her children. In 1964, she went to work at St. Mary’s Hospital as an operating room aide, where she retired after 16 years.
She was very active with the Ladies of St. Anne Sodality at Holy Family Church, serving as their president for nine years. In addition to her four children, Lillian has nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was honored as Mother of the Year in 1982.
Her favorite trips were with her friend to Bronson Missouri, the Winter Carnival in Quebec and Washington D.C. She also went to Disney World several times with her family.
Lillian would say to you that she lived a good life with lots of loving family and friends. We will always have our warm memories of holiday gatherings at the Letourneau Hall.
A Funeral Mass honoring Lillian’s life will be celebrated on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Holy Family Church. Committal prayers will then follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery Mausoleum in Lewiston. At the family’s request there will not be any visitation.
