Lucille Anna Fortin took her last breath on October 8th, 2016 at the Hospice House in Auburn. She died with her family by her side and is finally at peace. Lucille was born December 14,1931 to Alphonse and Gertrude Morin. She was an only child and especially adored by her dad.As a young woman she worked at Kresge's department store on Lisbon Street. She loved being a cashier and taking care of different departments in the store. She continually worked at Kresge's until she retired at age 60. She was especially fortunate to work there with her best friend Rita Rioux. On a summer’s night, she went to a dance and met the love of her life, Roger Fortin. It was instant love and since Roger did not drive, they walked miles throughout Lewiston and Auburn on dates. Their wedding took place at Saint Peter's church on April 11, 1953. They would enjoy 63 years together before her passing. Their home at 6 Holy Family Street in Lewiston has been the heart and soul of their love. Their beloved house meant everything to them, and they were both happiest when they were home with their dog fluffy. Lucille loved to be surrounded by her knick knacks. She had over 2000 salt and pepper shaker sets, as well as 200 ceramic bells. Before rheumatoid arthritis set in, she was an avid quilter. Baby quilts were her specialty and each of her 4 grandchildren and great grandchild Natsumi were the recipients of these special gifts. Knitting and crochet needles were never far away from her recliner. The last years were met with many medical challenges, but through it all, her love Roger has stayed by her side helping her in any way possible.
Lucille is survived by her husband Roger, her son and daughter in law, Gerry and Diane Fortin of Raymond, daughter and son in law, Paul and Terry Fouquette of New Gloucester, grandchildren, Matthew and Chikae Yamatin, Renee Fortin, Dan Fouquette , and Angela Fouquette. Lucille was also blessed with a great granddaughter named Natsumi.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Hospice House for their kindness and support. Dr. Roger Austin has been by our side for three of our parents deaths. His caring manner has been such a gift to us. We would also like to express our gratefulness to the Angels at D'Youville rehab 1 East. Their gentle touch and professionalism made everything easier, especially from her nurse Nobu.
