

Lewiston - Lucille M. Gardner, 87, of Lewiston, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at her home. She was born in Auburn on December 15, 1924, the daughter of Joseph and Georgianna Gardner. She attended schools in Auburn and graduated from Edward Little High School in the early 40's. She lived her whole life in the Lewiston-Auburn area, working for 29 years at Tri County Mental Health until her retirement in 1987. Lucille was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and a communicant of Holy Family Church in Lewiston and was also a member of The Ladies of St. Anne. For many years she volunteered her services for the church and was an Eucharistic Minister, bringing Communion to shut-ins in the Community. In 1995 she was nominated for the prestigious "Jefferson Award" for her outstanding public service in the community. She enjoyed cooking, playing bingo and spending time with family and friends. She was also a very avid Red Sox fan. Lucille is survived by four brothers: Alfred, Roland and Roger, all of Seattle Washington area and Robert of Mexico, Maine., and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at The Fortin Funeral Home in Lewiston on Friday from 6 PM to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 AM at Holy Family Church followed by committal services at St. Peter's Cemetery in Lewiston.
