

AUBURN - Marion E. Walker Hammond, a former resident of 33 Sullivan Rd. in Greene andSchooner Estates in Auburn, passed away at The Hospice House Monday, May 24th with her loving family by her side. She was born on 4/9/20 to Charles W. Walker and Bessie Bubier Walker.She married Russell P. Hammond Jr. on 8/9/42. Together, they raised four children.She worked for many years as a nurse, and then at Raytheon, J.C. Penney, and Knapp Shoe. Her favorite past times were spending time with family and friends, eating desserts andlobster, crocheting quilt squares for the Catholic Charities of Maine and volunteeringthousands of hours for CMMC. She was a member of the Women's Club of Greene for decades. She will long be remembered for her love of anything purple and her infectious laugh.She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her daughters, Brenda Theriault and her husband Linden of Greene,Carol Hawkes and her husband Edward of Port Charlotte, FL, her sons, Gary Hammondand his wife, Martha of Sidney, and Charles Hammond and his wife, Carolyn of Greene,13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, a sister, Villa Lavorgna of Windham, NH,and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her step mother, Lynda Hathaway Walker, herhusband, Russell in 1995, a grandson, Linden R. Theriault, a brother, Charles A. Walker,her sisters, Faith Halliday and Althea Walker, and a step sister, Audrey Bradford. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Boulanger, the nurses on C2 @ St. Mary'sHospital, Dr. Roger Austin and the nurses at the Hospice House for their love and caringfor Marion in her final weeks. HAMMOND died in Auburn, May 24, 2010, Mrs. Marion E. Hammond, age 90 years a resident of Auburn. Memorial services honoring Marion’s life will be celebrated SATURDAY, June 5hth at 11:00AM from the Memorial Chapel of Dillingham & Son with Reverend Robert Harris presiding. Graveside committal prayers to follow at Valley Cemetery in Greene.
