

AUBURN- Maurice F. Drouin Sr., 70, of Lewiston passed away on Friday February 1, 2013 at the Hospice House of Androscoggin with his loving family by his side following a long illness. He was born in Lewiston, Maine on August 29, 1942 the son of the late Fernand and Claudia (Gagnon) Drouin and had been a resident of this community all of his life. He attended Lewiston schools and enlisted in the Army Reserves 619th Transportation Unit from 1966 to 1994. He was employed at Averbach Shoe and Philip Elmet. Then he went to work at Pioneer Plastics for many years until his retirement. He worked part time for Sam’s Bakery until his health had declined. He was a member of the American Legion Post 153 and a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church and the Basilica of Sts. Peter & Paul. Maurice enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and friends. He cherished each and every one of his grandchildren. He also enjoyed the many hunting trips with his brothers Paul and Dick. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years the former Doris Rousseau whom he married on July 1, 1969 of Lewiston; his children Maureen Jordan of Lewiston, Lori Turgeon and her husband Norman of Oxford, Maurice Drouin Jr. and his wife Rebecca of Turner, Paula Drouin and Julie Drouin both of Lewiston; one step daughter Lisa Labbe of Lewiston; his grandchildren Derek, Courtney, Victoria, Travis, Makenna, Cassandra, Sophia and Isabella; step grandchildren Jacob, Jenna and Nathan; step great grandchildren Jaden, Jordan and Jacob Jr.; a brother Paul Drouin and his wife Laura of South Paris; a sister Diane Decie and her husband Ed of Salisbury, MA; a step brother Richard Bourgett and his wife Florence of Monmouth; three special nephews Philip Drouin, Leo Mathieu and Michael Mathieu; and many other nieces and nephews; he also leaves behind his three dogs, which he enjoyed and cherished very much, Jackson, Corey and Braxton. He is predeceased by a baby sister, Baby Bourgett; a brother Robert Bourgett who died in the line of duty in the Navy; and a sister Lucille Mathieu. The family wishes to thank Dr. Richard Kappelmann and Dr. Shirin Sanal for the excellent care they have given to Maurice throughout his illness. Committal services with military honors will follow at 1:00PM at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Mt. Vernon Road in Augusta.
