

Auburn - Normand C. Tanguay, age 73, of Lorraine Ave. in Lewiston and formerly a longtime resident of Newbury St. in Auburn, died early Wednesday morning February 16th at The Hospice House with family at his side. He was born in Lewiston April 20, 1937 a son of Cyrille and Clara (Royer) Tanguay. He was educated in local schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community. Mr. Tanguay was a Veteran of the Military having served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War until his Honorable Discharge. On September 2, 1961, he married the former Claudette Nadeau who predeceased him on May 5, 1991. Norm worked for twenty years in product manufacturing for L.L. Bean until his retirement. Mr. Tanguay was a former member of St. Louis Church, now attending The Basilica of Ss. Peter & Paul, and was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 106, where he ran the Beano for 12 years, the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Wallace Assembly, and a member of the former Post # 22 of the American Legion. He was also a member of Jacques Cartier and Sabattus Senior Citizens. For 14 years, he and his wife Claudette were loving and well-known State of Maine foster parents and among his favorite enjoyments were fishing, coin collecting and spending time and enjoying meals with his family and grandchildren. He was a loving, devoted and hard-working husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed. He leaves two sons Daniel Tanguay and wife Lisa of Lewiston and Denis Tanguay and wife Becky of New Gloucester; five daughters Denise Wilson and husband David of St. Augustine, FL, Donna Barber and husband Doug of Wilton, Diane Jensen of Lewiston, Debra Parent and husband Joseph of Poland and Deanna Creps and husband Brian of Hebron; 19 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; four sisters Rita Giroux and husband John of Bingham, Laurette Tanguay of Topsfield, Laurie Perreault and husband Real of Lewiston; and Lucienne Morin of Lewiston and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Jeannette Corriveau and three brothers Fern, Lionel and Richard Tanguay.
