

Dick was a beloved figure in the community, known for his role as the local "Real Santa" for many years, alongside his wife Eleanor, who played Mrs. Claus. Together, they brought joy to children and adults alike by visiting children's hospitals, schools, nursing homes, Walmart, city parks, and friends' homes.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and attended schools in the Lewiston, Maine school system, later pursuing further education at the University of Farmington. His career included positions at Knapp Shoe, St. Mary's Hospital, and Enterprise Foundry.
Dick was married to Anita Cusson and Eleanor Cusson, both of whom predeceased him. He is survived by his two sons and their wives, Raymond and Carol Cusson, and Roger and Judy Cusson, all residing in Lisbon, Maine. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and his sister-in-law Pearl Cusson. He was predeceased by his parents, his fiancé Doris Bergeron, his brother Normand T Cusson, and great-grandsons Jack and Levi Cusson.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation for Richard on Sunday, January 11th from 10AM to 12PM as well as 2PM to 4PM at The Fortin & Pinette Group, 305 Alfred A Plourde Parkway Lewiston, Maine 04240. Richard will be in his Santa suit, which he was well known for in the community. If you have children that may be sensitive to this please consider coming to the 10AM to 12PM Visitation. A Liturgy of the Word will take place on Monday, January 12, 2026 at 11AM at St. Peter’s Cemetery, 217 Switzerland Road Lewiston, Maine 04240.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the National Federation of the Blind or the APDA American Parkinson Disease Association. The family extends a special thank you to the Andwell Health Partners, particularly Hospice Care RN Margaret Quinn, and the Clover Health Care team, as well as friends Rena and Becky for their devoted care and support.
