Richard Haven Johnson

He has resided at The Lamp Memory Care Facility for the last 8 months.

He was born April 20, 1944, in Rochester, NH. He graduated from Spaulding HS in Rochester, NH, completed the training requirements of the Department of the Navy as Mechanical Engineering Technician , and received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology at the University of Southern Maine.

He worked at BIW for 33 years, retiring from his position as Supervisor of Piping Design.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a parishioner of IHM Parish, Sacred Heart Church, and a member of the IHM Golden Age Club.

He was predeceased by his parents (Mary & Haven Johnson), his sister (Kathryn Breese), and his daughter-in-law (Kelli Jewett Johnson).

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Barbara; their children Harrison (Julie), David (Kim), Samuel (Rachelle), Joseph (Kathryn); their grandchildren Rachel (Francisco), Hannah (Nicholas) Vogel-Shields, Caleb (Alyssa), Bethany, Jess, Aaron; and their great-grandchildren. Also, his sister Karen (Michael) Pleva. As well as several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 8 Sacred Heart Place, Auburn, ME on February 28, 2026, at 11AM. A Celebration of Life with a light luncheon will take place following the Mass.

Interment will be in the spring at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in White River Jct., VT.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Greater Androscoggin Humane Society, 55 Strawberry Ave., Lewiston, ME 04240, Andwell Hospice Care, 18 Strawberry Ave., Lewiston, ME 04240, Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org or to a charity of your choice.
