1948-2021
Auburn- Richard R. Saindon 73, of Plummer St Auburn, died Saturday May, 29 at his home after a long illness. He was born in Lewiston January 3, 1948 a son of the late Robert and Muriel (Denis) Saindon. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Edward Little High School class of 1966 and then from University of Maine at Orono with a degree in Chemical Engineering Technology Pulp and Paper in 1969. He served a tour in Vietnam later that year. Richard worked for several years at Gates Formed Fiber in the Research & Development Dept. He married the former Sharon Mead on August 23, 1975.
Richard enjoyed building and working with his hands. His greatest build was his former home in Turner Maine that he built with his family on 55 acres of land. He loved to learn new things. If something was broken, he enjoyed learning how to fix it. When he chose to learn something he had to learn everything about it. He was a hard working man. He cut his own firewood, tended his own property and had the most amazing vegetable gardens. He was also an artist. He painted, drew and sculpted for many years. He taught himself to play the flute. He was always ready to help friends and family when they needed him. His character was strong and he was generous to all. He was fiercely loyal to everyone he knew, but especially his family. First and foremost he was forever in love with his wife Sharon as she was with him. They were partners and best friends and were blessed with 46 years of marriage. He spent as much time as possible with his daughter Tammy as she grew up teaching her anything he could and then did the same with her son Parker. Children loved him because he was patient, gentle and kind. He was simply an amazing man and he is so missed by anyone that knew him.
Richard is survived by his wife Sharon of Auburn, his daughter Tammy Kelly and her companion Patrick Betters of Biddeford, a grandson Parker Kelly and his companion Emma Caron of Carmel, a step granddaughter Bailey Betters of Biddeford and a brother Dennis Saindon of Deer Isle.
