

AUBURN- Rosaire "Rosie" N. Sarrasin, 97, of Lewiston died Saturday September 21, 2013 at the Hospice House of Androscoggin. He was born in Wickham, P.Q. Canada on September 9, 1916 the son of the late Arthur and Albina (Lamothe) Sarrazin and had been a resident of this community for most of his life. He was employed for many years as a spinning room mechanic in the textile industry in the Lewiston and Lisbon areas until his retirement. On May 24, 1941, he married his wife of 66 years, the former Liane Charest; she died on March 27, 2008. Rosaire enjoyed fishing, gardening and farming. He was very knowledgeable of automobiles. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with all of them. He was willing to give a helping hand to everyone who needed it. He cared about people and enjoyed conversing with just anyone. He was a parishioner of Holy Family Church. He is survived by one son Gerard Sarrasin of Lewiston; two daughters Doris Doucet and her husband Lucien “Lou” of Lewiston and Claire Vallee and her husband Robert of Lewiston; two grandchildren Cynthia Smith and her husband Thomas of Auburn and Steven Vallee and his wife Lisa of Lacrosse, Wisconsin; four great grandchildren Tyler and Stella Smith and Alexander and Elizabeth Vallee; two sisters Theresa St. Hilaire of Auburn and Florence Sylvester and her husband Carroll of Massachusetts; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. Besides his wife he was predeceased by three brothers Philip, Joseph “Pete” and Paul Sarrazin; and three sisters Mary Labbe, Lydia Ferland and Laurette McCormick. The family wishes to thank Dr. Seth Gordon and all of his staff for the exceptional care given to Rosaire for the past seventeen years and also to the staff at the Hospice House of Androscoggin.
