

Biddeford - Sheila A. Decker, 75, of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Southern Maine Healthcare Hospital in Biddeford following a sudden illness. She was born on June 11, 1942, in Waltham, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Elwin and Gertrude (Hanson) Kenfield. Upon moving to Maine, she attended local schools including Monmouth Academy. She lived in various parts of the country including Tempe, Arizona and Aztec, New Mexico where she worked as a school security guard. In August 2003 she married the true love of her life in Aztec, New Mexico, James Decker. They enjoyed 9 wonderful years together which included traveling to all parts of the country. Following James' death in 2012, Sheila moved back to Maine and wanted to stay active and went to work as a greeter at Walmart which she truly enjoyed and where she was working at the time of her death. She loved reading, listening to music, watching cooking shows, gardening. In her younger years, she loved horseback riding, dancing, fishing, and hunting. She had a great sense of adventure and was always studying other cultures. She had no fear of trying new things and was considered a very independent lady. She had great pleasure in cooking for her family and was very artistic and designed various crafts which she used in decorating her house. She loved all kinds of animals but her greatest love was for her family.
Sheila is survived by her first husband: Joseph Carter of Concord, NH, 4 children: David Carter and wife Jean Angela from Greene, Maine, Theresa Timm and husband Tony of Lebanon, Missouri, Harold Carter of Livermore, Maine, Joseph Carter Jr. and wife Nichole of Augusta, Maine, a sister: Lois Hinkley of Florida, 16 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and her dear friend and neighbor; Evelyn Croston of Old Orchard Beach, Maine.Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband: James Decker.
