

AUBURN- Sylvio Sirois, 81, of Sabattus, Maine died Wednesday May 6, 2009 at the Hospice House of Androscoggin following a long illness with his family and friends by his side. He was born in Van Buren, Maine on October 3, 1927, one out of 18 children to Charles and Angeline (Levesque) Sirois and had been a resident of this community for the past 30 years. He was married to the former Beverly Day who died a few years ago. He was employed as a machine operator for Pioneer Plastics for many years until his retirement. He was a veteran of both the U.S. Airforce and U.S. Army having served in WWII. Everyone knew Sylvio as "Uncle Sly". He was a very generous man who was willing to help out anyone. He was also an excellent mechanic who could fix anything. Also he was an avid card player. He is survived by one son Charles Meintzchel and his wife Lizzy and granddaughter of Germany; four sisters Theresa Pelletier of Connecticut, Yvette Sirois, Irma Theberge and Gertrude Elliott all of Lewiston; many nieces, nephews and friends. NOTICE Sirois- Died in Auburn Wednesday May 6, 2009. Mr. Sylvio Sirois age 81 a resident of Sabattus. A Memorial Mass honoring Syvlio's life will be celebrated on Wednesday May 27, 2009 at 11AM at the Basilica of Sts. Peter & Paul (Lower Chapel). Committal prayers will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Sylvio's memory to the American Lung Association 122 State Street Augusta, Maine 04330.
