
Charles graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1951. He served in the US Air Force and retired from the US Postal Service after 33 years. He was an avid woodworker and meticulous craftsman, world renowned for his speaker cabinets, as well as countless tables, ornaments and toys he made for his family and friends.
Charles passed away peacefully at home last Sunday with his sons by his side. He is predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Carolyn Baird Schilling; stepdaughter, Rhonda Dreher and siblings, Lewis Schilling, John Schilling, Betty V. Roberts, and Joan Barfield. He is survived by his three sons, Eddie (Helen) Schilling, Gary (Wendy) Schilling, and Glenn (Theresa) Schilling; his brother, Robert (Linda) Schilling; stepdaughter, Leila Ann Baker (William); his grandchildren, Emily, Max, Amber, Sidney, Michael and Justin, and his great-grandchildren, Rose and Mason.
We would like to thank the ladies that helped us attend to him in his final days, especially Sweetpea.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Celestial Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, 3111 Delree Street, West Columbia, South Carolina 29170.
