

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Charles Manuel Schofield on December 27, 2022 at home with his family surrounding him. He was born on February 16, 1942 to Mary Ann Hinnant Schofield Addy and Rawley Manuel Schofield of Columbia, South Carolina.
He is survived by his lovely wife, Connie; his son, Todd (Julia); his daughter, Deni Titcomb (Chris); grandchildren, Elizabeth and Tommy Schofield, Kristen Titcomb and brother, Gene (Jan). He was predeceased by his father, Rawley Manuel Schofield; stepfather, Charles B. Addy and mother, Mary Ann Addy.
He was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina, attending the Columbia public schools and graduating from Columbia High in 1960. He attended two years at the University of South Carolina in Business Management. He married Constance "Connie" Lucille Coleman on April 4, 1965 and had two children, Charles Todd and Deni Titcomb. Charles served six months in the Army and six years in the reserves. He worked nineteen years in the meat business and was self-employed for twenty-three years in two businesses: five years in the sheet metal (Home Exterior) and eighteen years in the small engine repair (Lawn Mower and Chainsaw Clinic). Charles was in the Boy Scouts and received the highest award for God and Country. He belonged to the Masonic Lexington Lodge 152 and served as Master of the Lodge in 1978 and 2004. He also served the Grand Lodge as Grand Pursuivant and District Deputy Grand Master of the 8th District. He was a 33rd Degree SGIG Scottish Rite of Columbia. He was a member of the Columbia York Rites and served as the head chair of all three bodies. He served as the Most Excellent Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter of South Carolina in 2010. He was member of the following appendit bodies of the York Rite: Knights Masons, York Rite Sovereign College of North America, Red Cross of Constantine, and AMD. He was inducted in the Knight York Cross of Honor. He was a member of Columbia Chapter 59 OES and Past Worthy Patron. He was a member of the Jamil Shriners and the Hillbilly Unit where he served as a founding member and director of the Hillbillies at Jamil Temple. He was a member of Myrtle Lodge #3 Knights of Pythias where he served as the Grand Chancellor for the Domain of South Carolina.
Charles has over the years enjoyed several sports and activities. He played two years of semi-pro football, coached little league baseball for seven years, winning the Dixie Youth Championship twice (1978, 1981), head coach for the 1981 All Star Team and coached little league football for two years. He enjoyed sport skydiving for ten years where he was a co-owner of Lugoff Para-Flite. He was an Instructor, Jump Master and has his D License (pro rating). He was on the state record crew jump and relative jump (star) in South Carolina back in the 1980’s. He received the gold wings for a thousand jumps (GW-3038) and has a total of 1438 logged jumps in his career. He has been a member of the United States Parachutist Association for more than thirty-five years. He was an avid South Carolina Gamecock fan.
Funeral arrangements have been made for 2:00 pm on January 8, 2023 at St. David Lutheran Church in West Columbia, SC. Masonic Rites will be given after the funeral service at the church. The Pallbearers will be Bubba Russell, Reggie Gunter, Dick Kyzer, John Galloway, Carey Killian, and Brian Palmer. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Masonic Brothers of the Lexington Lodge 152 and the 8th District.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be given to the Grand Lodge of AFM of South Carolina Museum Funds or St. David Lutheran Church.
