He was predeceased by his parents and younger brother David. He is survived and was loved dearly by his sister-in-law, two nieces and their husbands, two nephews and their wives, and his 4 great nieces and 3 great nephews.
Daniel was born on January 3, 1954 in South Carolina to the late John Young DuPré. and Caroline Phillips DuPré. He was a devoted older brother to David Allston DuPré and beloved “Uncle Dan” to David’s four children. He was also named godfather to David’s second son. Daniel graduated from AC Flora High School in 1972. He attended Newberry College, worked for H&R Block as a Tax Adjuster, and enjoyed travel, delivering ambulances for Road Rescue. In later years, he worked security for Prisma Health before retiring. He loved camping, kayaking, and was the man who knew everything, making him unmatched in Trivial Pursuit. He often shared with his family, “I don’t know everything but what I don’t know, I can look up.”
Daniel was a fisherman extraordinaire and loved spending time with his brother and his brother’s children on Lake Murray, SC. He was a treasure trove of knowledge, always ready to share a historic story, a book recommendation, and his famous gumbo or pies.
