     I knew Uncle Danny for 53 years. He learned from his Father the importance of being a Christian. Both were unselfish, gentle, slow to speak & gift givers. 
   Wanting to be a Marine, he voluntarily joined at 18 yrs of age. Costing him significantly more than we will ever know, Uncle Danny served during Vietnam in hand to hand combat.
   Like other Soldiers, he bore many types of life long scares during his tour. For one outward scar, he earned a Purple Heart. Another award was Sharp Shooter. His Sharp Shooter pin can be seen pinned to his lapel in the picture below. We thank God that he returned to our family from war. Uncle Danny almost never spoke of his combat in Vietnam.
   I am reminded he was kind to others when life had been hard.  After all he endured during his life until his passing, I can’t recall hearing Uncle Danny losing his temper or saying an unkind word toward or about anyone.  Living 70 years, I’m sure he had many opportunities to do so.  
   In my opinion, we all have lost a peacemaker and a peacekeeper. While thinking about this, I did some reading.  This is what I found, “A peacemaker is someone who is willing to resolve both outer and inner turmoil in order to establish peace with others and within themselves… A peacekeeper, on the other hand, desires to maintain peace by avoiding conflict.  They typically give in to the tension or steer clear of disagreement to keep others happy.”  So, if he was a brother, an uncle, or friend as we morn his passing, let’s spend some time in self-reflection.  
   In closing, I say thank you to Uncle Danny’s life long testimony of unselfishness to us and our country. With God’s help, he was an example of how important it is to be a Christian living in this harsh, sinful world.  “ Blessed [are] the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” Matthew 5:9


Uncle Danny was a second father to me.  My godfather. My middle name is Dannette, after him. He was my late Dad’s best friend. And my mama’s beloved brother. He was one of the kindest, most wonderful men I ever knew. Always thinking of others. He gave me my first two computers as a child and encouraged my love of tech. The mattress my husband and I have slept on for 14 years was a wedding present from him. Our beautiful orange cookware was from him. The fridge on our back porch, gadgets in my drawers, the backup camera for my car, the DVDs in my closet....all thoughtful presents given from his heart.   I will miss his phone calls just to chat. And birthday dinners with him at my parents’ kitchen table eating spaghetti or salmon stew. I can’t believe he is gone and my heart is broken. I’m so thankful for the memories and for knowing him. 

Danny was an amazing brother.  He was loving and kind.   I don't think he ever said no to me..wow.. There will never be a second that I won't miss him.  He loved my son..and he loved me. We got to hug and say those words to each other 2 days before he passed on. 
 He had many friends in his life, But he had one life long friend to the end. Wayne Wooten.. I think they were partners in crime from the beginning. I thank you all for your love and support.

Danny was such a pleasant gentleman. He will be greatly missed by  family and friends.  My Condolences  and love to the Driggers Family.  Roxie Williamson
