
LEXINGTON - Davis A. (Alex) Lorick Sr., 79, passed peacefully away on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at his home in Surfside Beach, SC. He was born on November 10, 1932 in Lexington, SC and was the son of the late Clifton Davis Lorick and William Wade Lorick Sr. He was also predeceased by his brother, William Wade Lorick Jr.; and his sister, Ruth Lorick Redd. He was a 1950 graduate of Lexington High School, attended Clemson College, and served honorably in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict where he was a proud member of the commissioning crew of the USS Conflict - Ocean Going Minesweeper (MSO-426). After his discharge from the Navy in 1957, he was first employed by Lorick Motor Company in Lexington and later with NAPA including locations in Columbia, SC and then the greater Charlotte, NC and Rock Hill, SC areas until his retirement. His passions included walking the beach, boating on the Waccamaw River, working in his yard, and attending Clemson University Football games. He was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Lexington. Survivors include his wife, Anne Helms Lorick of Surfside Beach and Morristown, TN; his son, Davis A.
(Dave) Lorick Jr. of Surfside Beach; and his wife’s children - Billy Helms (Carol), Connie Shepherd (Rex), and Roy Helms (Jamie) of Morristown. He is also survived by the mother of his son, Roberta P. Lorick of Lexington; his brother-in-law Col. (Ret) W. B. Redd Jr., of Myrtle Beach; and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Monday October 22, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel. A second visitation will be held on Wednesday October 24, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home in Lexington, SC. Graveside services will be held on Thursday October 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephens Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the hospice organization of one’s choice.
