Donald B. Monts

Mr. Donald Berley Monts, 73, of Columbia, South Carolina passed away November 13th, 2023, while under the care and support of PruittHealth, Blythewood. Born in Prosperity, SC, he was the son of the late George Cecil Monts and Frances Laura Long Monts.

Don loved time relaxing at the beach and being surrounded by loving friends and family. He was a laid back and easy going soul with a passion for life and a laugh that made those around him smile. Don loved watching musicals and listening to light jazz while cooking. He was known in his prime for having a light step on the dance floor. He enjoyed working in the yard and helping friends with landscape designs. One of his favorite hobbies was floral design and working the St. Cecilia’s Ball in Charleston. Don was very proud of the young man his grandson was becoming and would share stories of their adventures to all that could hear. His bonds of family were most important to him and what endeared him to so many. He will be loved and missed by everyone who knew him.

Don is survived by his loving son, Sean (Jennifer) Lafaye; grandson, Stratford Lafaye; sister, Connie Doberass; Anna Grace Lafaye; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also dearly missed by his extended family members, Grant Sciambia, Carl Grant, Allen Phillips, Debbie Wooster, Nanci Ostrosky, and Jeri Groby.

In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by his brothers, George Monts and John Monts, and his partner Tommy Norvell.

Visitation for Donald will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, November 29th, 2023, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home-Lexington Chapel, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072.
