
CHAPIN – Funeral services for Emmaline “Emily” Penfield Bickley, widow of the late Herman Eugene Bickley passed away on Friday after a brief illness. She was 80. Mrs. Bickley was born June 29, 1934, a daughter of the late James Leslie Penfield and Leah White Penfield. She was retired from Ellett Brothers, Inc. She was a charter member of White Rock Baptist Church where she faithfully served as church treasurer for more than 25 years. Her love for her Lord and desire for others to know Him were paramount in her life.
She is survived by her daughters, Martha Lynn Bickley (Kent) Rowell of Gaston and Lea Ann Bickley (Bryan) Lucas of West Columbia, and two grandsons, Daniel Lucas and James Lucas of West Columbia; brothers, Herbert (Ellen) Penfield of Lakeworth, FL, Jimmie (Betty) Penfield of Wedgefield, SC, Ryan (“Chumpy”) Penfield of Walterboro, SC, sisters-in-law, Dot Metts of Little Mountain, SC, Betty Jean (Clyde) Lester of Newberry, SC, Linda (Hewitt) Grant of Chapin, SC; brother-in-law, Andy (Bobby Jean) Bickley; numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bickley was preceded in death by her sister, Anita Penfield Benton.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon at White Rock Baptist Church in White Rock, SC with interment in Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Pallbearers will be James Benton Jr., Kenny Bickley, Troy Grant, Jimmy “Lin” Penfield, Jr. Larry Penfield and Leslie Penfield. Honorary pallbearers will be the Young at Heart Sunday School Class.
The family wishes to thank Drs. Elizabeth Lebel, Tally Parrot, and the staff of Palmetto Health Hospice for their excellent care.
