He grew up in Springfield, SC where he graduated from Salley High School. In 1962, he married Carol Sanders Furtick. They shared 54 years of marriage until her death in May of 2016.
Everett retired from SCE&G and was an active Member of St. Mark United Methodist church. He loved to go camping with close friends, was a diehard Gamecock fan, and enjoyed playing golf. He even had a SCE&G golf outing named after him. He also enjoyed growing vegetables in his garden and was known for growing tomatoes, even though he did not like eating them. Going out to eat on Friday nights with family and friends was the highlight of his week, as well as going out to breakfast. He cared about his yard, cutting grass and trimming hedges until his passing.
A devoted husband, a loving father, and a loyal friend, he was known by someone no matter where he went. He never met a stranger and would talk to anyone. There is a huge hole in everyone’s life and he will be loved, missed, and remembered for the rest of our lives.
He is survived by his son, Thomas E. Furtick, Jr. “Tucker” and his wife, Kristine Furtick “Kris”; granddaughter, Emily Furtick “Ember”; and sisters, Miriam Bollacker and Nancy Fagg.
