Gene loved her church family and speaking God’s word, bear collection, M&M’s, Cheerwine, cross-stitch and puzzles, but especially loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son, Frederick E. Witt, Jr.; daughter, Karen Kaye Witt (Gregg); grandchildren, Elizabeth Blankenship (Gary), Evan Witt (Destiny), and Mariesa Witt; great-grandchildren, Tre and Jaxon; brother, James Alston (Janet); along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Gene was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Witt and brother, William “Boo” Alston.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home – Lexington, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072. Burial will follow the service at Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Rd, Lexington, SC 29072.
