Glenna “GG” Geneva Hammond, 90, of Lexington, South Carolina, passed away on April 1, 2026. Born on December 12, 1935, in Sidney, Ohio, she was the daughter of Avery H. Knasel and Marjorie Howell Knasel.
She was employed by the SC Department of Employment Workforce, where she served as a claims supervisor for about 30 years.
GG was married to Henry “Sonny” Padgett; they met while dancing—an enduring reflection of the joy she found in life’s simple, shared moments. She is survived by her daughter, Susan H. Shealy; her son, Randall S. Hammond (Sheila); her grandchildren, Ally Kate Robinson (Mitch) and Hunter Shealy (Annie); and her great-grandsons, Avery, Kit, and Rory. She is also survived by her sisters, Pat Higgins and Darlene Hall, along with seventeen nieces and nephews. Glenna was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters, three brothers-in-law, and three nephews. She also loved all her grand-dogs dearly.
A devoted member of St. David Lutheran Church, Glenna cherished the fellowship she found there and had many wonderful times with her church family. She enjoyed dancing and laughing, loved animals, birds, and butterflies, and especially loved traveling with her church group and cruising.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. David Lutheran Church, 132 St. Davids Church Road, West Columbia, South Carolina 29170, on April 4, 2026, at 10:00 am. She requested that her ashes be released along the Blue Ridge Mountains when the leaves change in the fall.

GG will be donating her pacemaker to pets to help with heart conditions. Her pacemaker will continue to enrich a dog’s life.
