Hawyn “Pete” Julian Cox, 86, was born May 26, 1935 in Lake City, SC and passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2022. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Oxner Cox; his parents, the late Hasford Jones Cox and Wynne Eulelia Simmons Cox and his sisters, Dorothy Annette Hatchell and Hazel Marie Cox.
Mr. Cox was an office machine technician for many years at Hudson Office Equipment. He loved life, his family, aviation, and in particular, model airplanes.
He is survived by his son, Barry Cox (Natalie Spry) of Columbia; grandchildren, Carrie Smith (Josh) of Greenville, Malcolm Cox of Greenville; great grandchildren, Weston and Bennett Smith, Hayley and Zoey Cox; his step-grandchildren, Christian Spry, Natale Spry, and great grandchild, Chase Mackmurphy. In addition, he is survived by his selfless, loving companion of many years, Mary DeHihns of Columbia, whose love and support was his rock and her children, Gibbes DeHihns and Fran Sims.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at graveside.
