The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2019 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Jimmy Pennington was born January 14, 1945 in Fort Walton Beach, FL and passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2019. He was a son of the late Ada Frances Connell and Harvey Odell Pennington.
He is survived by his son, Johnny Pennington and his wife Crystal of Lexington; daughter, Lynn Pennington of Lexington; grandchildren, Zach and Madison Pennington; brother, John Branch of Crestview, FL and the mother of his children, Mary Lou Pennington. He was predeceased by his step-father, Emerson Branch and brother, Tommy Pennington.
Jimmy never met a stranger. He struck up a conversation with everyone he met. His opening line was either, can I borrow $20 or you dropped this. On his daily walks through Walmart, he loved visiting with the employees and handing out candy to everyone. He would arrive at church early on Sunday mornings to place candy throughout the congregation before service. Many people knew him as the “Candy Man.” Now he is with his Heavenly Father. We will dearly miss him as will many of you.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Racers For Christ at teamrfc.org in memory of Jim Pennington.
