Ms. Minneman was a dedicated Christian missionary worker for the Lutheran Church ELCA.
Jean was a graduate of Capital University, Columbus, Ohio (founded by the Lutheran Church) majoring in Education & Theology. She later augmented her education at Hofstra University, Long Island, NY in preparation for her assignment in New Guinea.
She served as a Christian missionary for four years in Tanzania Africa and fourteen years in Papua New Guinea.
She returned to the United States but continued her work in a variety of church related activities and, in later years, enjoyed volunteering at Bethel Lutheran Church and the Heritage at Lowman.
She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Eileen Minneman Deskins (James); nieces, Patricia Deskins Lemke (Anthony) and Betty Jo Minneman and nephew, David Deskins (Janet). She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Leroy Minneman, Jr. (Phyllis) and nephew, Dennis Deskins.
Inurnment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery 2335 Dutch Fork Rd, Chapin, SC 29036. Memorials may be made to The Lutheran Homes of SC Foundation to benefit those served by the Heritage at Lowman and designated for subsidized care, 300 Ministry Drive, Irmo, SC 29063.
