LEXINGTON – Funeral services for Joel O. Smith, 84, of Lexington will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with interment in Woodridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the chapel. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lexington County Recreation and Aging Commission Meals on Wheels.
Mr. Smith was born September 17, 1931 in Gilbert, SC and passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016. He was the son of the late Joseph E. Smith and Barbara Frye Smith. He worked and retired from M.L. Corley Lumber Company.
He is survived by his sons, Kenneth J. Smith, Earl R. Smith (Carolyn) and Roger Odell (Wanda) Smith and daughter, Donna Sue Garris (Ben) all of Lexington; ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; sister, Teresa Jumper of Spartanburg; brother, Howard V. Smith of Lexington and Ralph Wendell of Gilbert. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lowray Booth Smith; sisters, Dorlee Keisler, Matilda Warren and Earline Jeffcoat; brother, Edward M. Smith and his half-brother, and sister, Cyrus Smith and Leola West.
